The Best Young Tennis Stars

Sports eras come and go, and that is especially true for tennis. A grueling sport where you only depend on yourself, it’s amazing to see what tennis players can do. It’s a sport of the body and the mind, with longevity being a real problem. But, some people are literal super humans.

Take the trio of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. They’re been playing on a top level for two decades, and apart from Federer, Nadal and Djokovic are still playing. But, it’s obvious that the old guard is slowly starting to lose ground. It was always a matter of time, with new exciting players to take the top three spots.

Will they end up being more successful? Who can tell. We’re glad that the new guard has arrived and will be keeping an eye on the top talent to see if they flop or break records of the greats.

Carlos Alcazar

If there’s one player with the potential to be a new Rafa Nadal, it’s Carlos Alcaraz. Another Spanish product, Alcazar has already won a Grand Slam – the 2022 US Open. It was a matter of time after he played some incredible matches at the ATP Tour. Get this – 2022 was his maiden Grand Slam journey, and he reached the quarter-finals at the French Open which put the world on notice.

After Novak Djokovic’s legal troubles and Nadal’s shaky knees, it was clear that he’ll aim high for the US Open. He reached the final and beat Casper Ruud, his direct rival for the top spot on the ATP list. In doing so, he became the first teenager to end the year as number 1.

An exciting prospect and a potential tennis great.

Casper Ruud

If it wasn’t for Alcaraz, Casper Ruud would have ended the year on the top ATP spot. The Norwegian had two finals this year – at the French Open and the US Open, losing both. But, he’s a prospect on the rise and we’re sure he’ll soon get his maiden Slam.

Considering his great play on all surfaces, he might nab several.

Taylor Fritz

The top American player reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon this year and had strong performances during the whole season. It was his best year to date, defending the Indian Wells crown and ranking among the top-10 tennis players for the first time (Nr. 9). It’ll be an exciting year ahead for the 25-year old who can make real progress from here.

Felix Auger-Aliassime

The top Canadian prospect made his name by beating top-10 players. He won the US Open twice as a junior and reached the semi-final on the big stage, once again in the USA this year. What’s more impressive is that he became the only player after Djokovic and Isner to force Rafael Nadal to a five-setter at the French Open.

Auger-Aliassime is a name we’ll hear more often in the future, starting from 2023.

Stefanos Tsitsipas

Tsitsipas is already a household name thanks to his great play over the past few years. He won the 2019 ATP Tour Finals tournament, becoming the youngest player in 18 years.

He’s reached the Australian Open semi-finals for two years in a row, and lost the 2021 French Open final to Nadal.
